Information about prulifloxacin

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Prulifloxacin prevents bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair and recombination through suppression of bacterial DNA gyrase.

Prulifloxacin is a prodrug of ulifloxacin.

COMPOSITION

Each film coated tablet contains

Prulifloxacin - 0,600 mg

Colors: red iron oxide and titanium dioxide IP

INDICATIONS

Prulifloxacin indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible bacteria:

Acute uncomplicated urinary tract infections (cystitis simple);
- complicated lower urinary tract;
- exacerbation of chronic bronchitis.

DOSAGE

Adult dose is as follows:

  • Patients with acute uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections (simple cystitis): a single 600-mg tablets is enough;
  • Patients with complicated urinary tract infections: 600 mg tablet once a day for a maximum of 10 days.
  • Patients with exacerbation of chronic bronchitis: 600 mg tablets once a day to a maximum of 10 days.
  • The dosage should be adjusted by monitoring drug levels in blood plasma.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to prulifloxacin, other quinolone antibiotics or any of the excipients. Sexual maturation of children and adolescents under the age of 18 years with incomplete skeletal development. Patients with a history of tendon. Pregnancy and lactation.
